Urban Agriculture Youth Institite
Bennu Gardens Urban Agriculture Youth Institute promotes awareness about the benefits of gardening and holistic nutrition, provides hands on learning experiences in the process of urban farming, and inspires an agripenuerial spirit among our urban youth. The Ag Youth Institute operates over a year-long seasonal period wherein youth participants engage in stimulating urban agricultural activities including Nutrition and Healthy Eating, Basic Horticulture, Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security, Cooperative and Traditional Ag Business/Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development. Lessons and activities are adapted from The Food Project, The Horticultural Society of New York, and Teach a Man to Fish Foundation curriculums. Youth participants gain business, sustainable agricultural and horticultural skills, learn about teamwork, leadership and responsibility, build self-esteem, and connect in a positive way with their community by growing and selling locally grown fresh, organic produce.
