The Westside Greenhouse Initiative 

The Westside Greenhouse Initiative will be a Controlled Environment Agricultural (CEA) model which will provide locally grown, healthy produce to customers, green jobs training and agripreneurship opportunities for our community.  The CEA integrates both science and engineering-based approaches which involve growing vegetable crops under managed environments, improving productivity and optimizing resource use. A CEA plays an important role in the "local food movement" by balancing the freshness and safety of food, improving the local economy,  providing unique varieties of agricultural products to consumers and connecting communities to "where their food comes from".

Westside Greenhouse Initiative committee

The Westside Greenhouse Initiative Committee (WGIC) is a community advisory group that works with Bennu Gardens Urban Agriculture Institute staff to ensure that the Greenhouses operate in accordance with the vision, values and purpose for which they are intended.
